A picture of Stone Cross Base
Located at West End of the High Street, fixed over a spring, is the stone base of a cross of the 13th or 14th century. The base is square brought to an octagon with bold angle stops. Perhaps it was part of one of the four stone crosses which Cardinal Pole, at his visitation in 1556, ordered the parishioners to rebuild. (Victoria County History Vol3)
